About This Blog

Good starting place for products and resources you need to have for running a website.Curious about what runs realmarriedlife.com?  After doing tons of research starting this site, I found some great resources and products.  Here are resources I use for this blog:

WordPress

I use wordpress (.org) for the software to publish my site.  Wordpress is incredibly popular and is great because you can use its features for composing articles and designing your website, but at the same time use your own domain name and hosting.

StudioPress Products

Genesis Framework for WordPress

Realmarriedlife.com runs on the Genesis Parent Theme and the Prose Child Theme. Wordpress comes with free themes to run your blog, but I chose to purchase one from StudioPress.  These are great options because you can customize everything!  I don’t know much about website coding, so the Genesis theme was perfect.  Everything is optimized for search engines, mobile-site ready, and runs smoothly. Learn more about buying a theme or download them now at StudioPress 101.

Bluehost

When you buy your own domain name and use wordpress.org, you have to pay to host the website.  I recommend Bluehost because I have been so happy with their services!  I have called their support line a couple of times for help with email forwarding and initial set up with WordPress.  Each time I have spoken with someone very helpful and competent.  I looked at other services, and I found they had the best customer service recommendations.

Their price per month is about $7.  However, if you buy several months at a time like I did, you will save money!  Sometimes they run specials, so look for those.  This link to Bluehost is my affiliate link, but as a paying customer, I completely recommend them!

Gimp

This is my favorite free photo software!  It is very similar to photoshop.  Gimp allows you to create images in layers and add text over the top of photos.  I use it for all of my logos.

Websites

Blogging With Amy – she has the technical step-by-step instructions I used for setting up my website.

Copy Blogger – Articles about writing great content, traffic strategies, and how to be more productive as an author.

Dollars and Roses – Blogging couple Mandy and Jeff Rose share how they make money online.

Disclosure:  This post contains affiliate links.  If you purchase Bluehost services or StudioPress products, I earn a referral fee, which helps keep Real Married Life’s content free.  I am completely satisfied with their products and recommend them as a paying customer myself!
